Title: Director, Sensory Consumer Research
Salary: OPEN
Location: GA - Atlanta

Full Service Consumer Research Company with a focus on FMCG sensory and Consumer Product Research for Fortune 1000 companies is expanding. This position is responsible for day-to-day communication with clients including processing client requests. The main need in Atlanta is program leadership with the ability to manage and grow the staff. Must be customer service focused as the role will interface with internal clients on a daily basis. Must have solid understanding of sensory techniques and product research.

  • Work directly with the client to create and execute research plans
  • Work within the team to coordinate the execution of on-site quantitative research, and when requested by the researcher, qualitative research
  • Provide cost estimate to researcher
  • Design and develop research screeners, questionnaires, designs, protocols, and all other relevant documentation
  • Coordinate product procurement
  • Coordinate quantitative data entry, analysis and reporting
  • Submit raw data and analysis
  • Prepare and submit data summary tables
  • Lead the deployment and improvement of sensory evaluation capabilities.
  • Ensure the quality of the data and consumer panels.
  • Responsible for oversight of survey programming, field execution coordination, and consumer panel maintenance.
  • Ensure build-up of department expertise, tools and techniques and their practical dissemination
  • Works with business teams to design, execute and report on consumer and sensory research studies utilizing qualitative, quantitative and usability expertise.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of sensory and/or consumer research experience
  • Previous experience in organizing and managing consumer and/or sensory projects
  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and execute research under pressure in a busy work environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Knowledge of Sensory Software Programs and their capabilities, such as Eye Question, Compusense, or Fizz a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree would be preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written/oral) and organizational skills
  • Strong diplomacy, influencing and leadership skills
  • Knowledge and experience in research design and application
  • Skilled in applied knowledge of a variety of sensory, consumer methodologies including descriptive analysis.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach and develop a team of sensory researchers and project managers
