Title: Underwriter Actuary Accident and Health

Location: CT - Stamford
Description:

One of the world's leading providers of reinsurance and specialty insurance with headquarters in Stamford, CT and a network of more than 30 offices in 11 countries, is looking for an Treaty Underwriter/Actuary for the Accident and Health group. The ideal candidate will have 3-10 years’ experience and the role is a composite role of a Treaty Underwriter and Actuary.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze the profitability of treaty reinsurance submissions
  • Develop pricing indications using sound analytical/actuarial principles and methodologies
  • Price alternative structures as needed
  • Analyze financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis
  • Quantify risks based on experience history and forecasting methods
  • Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls
  • Determine terms and conditions and complex rating plans
  • Maintain familiarity with insurance industry developments impacting pricing analysis
  • As appropriate, update pricing models parameters, including trends, increased limit factors, and development data using all available information
  • Provide price-monitoring information on bound accounts for subsequent loss reserve analysis
  • Analyze claims and quantifies losses

Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in mathematics or similar field
  • Minimum 3-10 years in the insurance industry, specifically in Accident and Health
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple lines of Accident and Health business including reinsurance pricing issues, coverage issues, and external factors that would affect profitability
  • Ability to comprehend complex reinsurance submissions and reach sound conclusions with all information available
  • Strong mathematical (preferably actuarial) and analytical skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Clear, precise, effective communication
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Discretion in handling confidential/sensitive information
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Preferably working towards ASA or FSA designation
  • VBA (Visual Basic) experience a plus
